It was most important to our clients to consider designing a spacious and sleek modern bathroom with a large focus on the traditional luxurious finishes that are seen within surrounding luxury terraces.​

Set down a private lane within the Canterbury Heritage precinct, this aging Apartment needed to be modernised while still emulating the luxury quality of yesteryear and to proudly sit within the other luxury renovated properties of Canterbury. ​Considering the style recently used in their kitchen renovation, the bathroom was to include a lot of natural luxury stone, bold features, and contemporary lighting, juxtaposing the old with the new.

Understanding our client’s brief of wanting to blend the old-world charm of the surrounding Canterbury terrace properties but with a modern twist, we set about creating a striking combination of design and materials to suit the home.​

​With concrete floors and solid brick boundary walls, we were limited with our working methodology and processes to ensure a quality finish. We found out of date plumbing services and needed to create a new bulkhead to facilitate the exhaust fan and services between the powder room and external wall.​ ​

With our client seeking a steam shower, we worked with our suppliers to create a custom screen to allow for floor to ceiling enclosure.​

Seeking for natural stone to be included in the design we searched through many suppliers’ factories for the right piece of stone. Once we secured the dream slab, we were able to confirm the surrounding finishes in the room. ​

The softer colour palette and beautiful classical features such as the natural stone, profiled joinery, hardware and tiles really sets the mood on entering the room while being complemented by great natural light. ​

These traditional features are boldly modernised by striking black fixtures and accessories. Feature statement pieces such as the framed black mirror, shower screen and tracking lighting fixture creates a harmonious balance of old meeting new. ​
